Introduction
 

Neeb Karori Baba (Laxminarayan Sharma)-1900-1973  is  known lovingly as Maharaj-ji.  He was a devotee of the lord Hanuman.  Neeb Karori Baba is well-known for being the guide to a number of Americans who visited India in the 1960s and 70s.  Some of them are, well-known spiritual teachers being Ram Dass, Bhagavan Das, and musician Krishna Das.   His ashrams are in Kainchi Dham, Nainital, Vrindavan, Rishikesh, Shimla, Neem Karoli Village, Farrukhabad, Hanumangarhi, New Delhi and Lucknow, India and in Taos, New Mexico, US.

In 2019, when I came across a few web pages and articles on Neem Karoli Baba, I was unknown to the fact that he will call me at Kainchi Dham the same year.  I visited the place and was blessed with right direction and purpose in my life and since then it has been a routine for me to remember him daily and chant Hanuman chalisa without fail.

Neem Karoli baba inspired others to sing hanuman chalisa, write down or chant "Ram" and perform seva or service to people who need it as the ultimate act of unconditional devotion to supreme being.  Neem Karoli baba did not leave any organization or heirs behind.  He did not hold any spiritual discourses to the masses or a select few.  He did not establish any spiritual organization in the west.  There is no biography available about him.  He was fondly known as“Maharaj-ji” by people who were in contact with him.   I wonder if he really gave any structured teaching to anyone.  In many books written by his devotees it is mentioned that  people and devotees from all over India and Abroad came to meet him and by asking about them and hearing their views, desires and problems, he used to respond to them and that was the way he used to have an impact on them.   In photographs, I have seen him sitting, lying down, walking, standing wearing a Indian blanket and a loin. always barefoot.

Neeb Karori baba says "All religions are the same. They all lead to God. God is everybody.  The same blood flows through us all, the arms, the legs, the heart, all are the same. See no difference.  See all the same.
